New Necklace

I made a new necklace that is not for Etsy, but as a gift for a friend. I really like it a lot and I will definitely make a similar version for my shop.

I had a great time making this necklace for so many reasons. The best part was how organic the creative process was. There was little to no planning that went into creating. I just sort of went for it and love the outcome.

I hope you like it too.

This is not an endorsement

...but it does venture so far into the beyond bizarre category that I had to share.

Happy Friday eveyone!

If you love La Pequeña too, you should also check out her awesome Amy Winehouse performance. You won't ever be the same again.

Friday roll call

I am so glad that it is Friday. This week crawled by and was filled with some minor irritants. The exterior of my apartment is being painted and it is causing all sorts of commotion.

We had to move all of our furniture off of the patio, which was a gigantic pain in the butt. My poor BF practically broke his back moving everything and to top it off, the powers that be have chosen the most garish color to repaint the building. Ugh!

I will end my rant here and post an awesome Treasury that catrocks curated. She included one of my favorite necklaces.

Diego

This is my sweet little cockatiel, Diego. He doesn't like to sit still for photographs, but he will whistle you his favorite songs.

When he is feeling silly, he will have a birdie conversation with my big toe. He crouches down and makes his version of people speak and it kind of sounds like mumbling. I get the feeling he thinks my toe is just another person who is closer to his size. They always start out playing nice, but eventually my big toe will make him angry and Diego will try to bite it. Or at least show my toe who is the boss.

It's pretty funny. When he really starts to get going, I can't help but laugh, which makes him more irritated. He does not like to be laughed at. I end up tucking my foot under a pillow or in between the cushions on the couch to avoid a bird bite. Diego will pace back and forth looking for his toe friend, completely baffled that it just disappeared into thin air.

Diego LOVES people food and his favorites are, cilantro, shredded carrots, Italian parsley, brown rice and grapenuts.

He also likes Swarovski crystals because they are shiny, but he is not allowed to play with those. He is allowed to play with his new toy from wyspurcreations.

New Earrings

I listed a new pair of earrings last night and I sold a pair of earrings too. Woo Hoo!!
Here are my new pretties. They are very sleek and lightweight - perfect to pair with your little black dress.

I also got a new Treasury West late last night. The last one I made didn't really get much time because the West was down for a day or so...

Santogold

Santogold is my new favorite music artist. She is so fresh and new - I can't stop listening! She has a new video out for her first single, L.E.S. Artistes.

I hope you like it as much as I do.

YUM!

Awesome Falafel Recipe - We LOVE this recipe and make it in our house all the time. I know there are a lot of variations of falafel recipes. Which one is your favorite?

Ingredients

1 cup dried chickpeas or canned
1/2 large onion, roughly chopped (about 1 cup)
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon salt
1/2-1 teaspoon dried hot red pepper
4 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon baking powder
4-6 tablespoons flour
Canola or vegetable oil for frying
Chopped tomato for garnish
Shredded lettuce for garnish
Diced onion for garnish
Tahina sauce or yogurt
Pita bread

Preperation

1. Put the chickpeas in a large bowl and add enough cold water to cover them by at least 2 inches. Let soak overnight, then drain. Or use canned chickpeas, drained.

2. Place the drained, uncooked chickpeas and the onions in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a steel blade. Add the parsley, cilantro, salt, hot pepper and garlic. Process until blended but not pureed.

3. Sprinkle in the baking powder and 4 tablespoons of the flour, and pulse. You want to add enough flour so that the dough forms a small ball and no longer sticks to your hands. Turn into a bowl and refrigerate, covered, for several hours.

4. Form the chickpea mixture into balls about the size of walnuts.

5. Heat 3 inches of oil to 375 degrees in a deep pot or wok and fry 1 ball to test. If it falls apart, add a little flour. Then fry about 6 balls at once for a few minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Stuff half a pita with falafel balls, chopped tomatoes, onion, lettuce or any veggie that sounds good to you. Drizzle with tahina or yogurt, whichever you like better or have on hand.

It's a bird, a plane...

We were driving the other day and saw one of those airplanes that write and draw things in the sky.

It took a little while to figure of what we were looking at. Once I realized what it was - it made me laugh out loud. It was so unexpected and cute.

I'm sure the pilot was warming up or practicing, although I guess it's not impossible for someone to request a giant smiley face be air painted in the sky.

After a few seconds, the wind started to kick up a little and the smiley face started to look sort of evil and sinister.

Luckily, we were just passing through....

California Dreamin'

My new Treasury West dedicated to California Crafter's Club of Etsy (CCCOE) and all things California. Of course.

My last Treasury West was kind of robbed, because The West was down. Hopefully we will be without anymore technical difficulties.

I jumped on the bandwagon

Treasuries have turned into a major addiction. I get a crazy adrenaline rush watching the minutes count down, waiting for the open Treasury slot to open up.

It is like waiting for Christmas morning to come.

So this new Treasury West is fully dedicated to all things California Crafters Club of Etsy (CCCOE).

CCCOE is taking over the Treasury

CCCOE is a force to reckon with. These lovely ladies snatch up more Treasuries than any other street team. I can't keep up with all of them - which is super fantastic.

I was featured in 2 more just today. If I'm not careful, my ego may become slightly inflated.
