Leap Year and Martha Stewart

Rob Kalin, the founder of Etsy was on the Martha Stewart show today. It is really exciting to watch the community that I have become a part of recognized on such a large scale.

I recorded the show and watched the segment with Rob - I felt like a proud mother. I also took a few screen shots of the Martha Stewart website.

Enjoy!!!

Telling Clocks...

I feel like I just entered the big leagues.
I started out slow, conquering the Treasury West. I even got good at them. But that temptress, Treasury was always just out of my reach.

Well tonight that is all over. I asked the Treasury for a dance, and she accepted.
I'm moving up in the world of Etsy!

Okay, Okay. I know that was a lot of theatrics, but I aim to please...

Without further ado, I introduce to you - My first curated Treasury.

Treasury LOVE

I got a new Treasury West late last night and am featured in a new Treasury curated by Tresijas.

Spring is in the air

It is right around the corner folks. I don't know where the the time has flown - But I want it to slow down, just a little bit.

I listed a new, spring inspired pair of earrings. They are simple and colorful.

Pop by the shop and give them a look.

And to my surprise, as I was surfing through the Treasuries I found my new necklace!!

Thank you to Jezabel's Jewels for including me in her beautiful Pop goes the Color Treasury.

Manic Monday

I haven't blogged since last Thursday and before I knew it, Monday smacked me in the face.

Yesterday was my birthday and I had a fantastic day. I share it with my brother, who is not my twin, but was born on my 6th birthday. So it has been "our" day since then and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I haven't used this blog yet to write about my life on a personal note, so it feels a little foreign. But I'm pretty sure that it's just an attempt on my part to avoid the fact that I have neglected my blog for 3 days. So with that said...

On to more important Etsy news!

I am featured in a new Treasury West curated by luchi. I don't think I will ever get over the excitement of seeing my work displayed along with my peers.

It's the little things that matter the most.

I'm feeling a pattern develop here

It's time for another addition of the Time Machine!

I just LOVE listing and re-listing jewelry pieces in my shop and finding them in the time machine. I am verging on being slightly obsessive with this particular Etsy feature.

I'm working on getting it out of my system, but I can't guarantee that it will be anytime soon.

If you like this necklace as much as I do, give it a visit before it's g-o-n-e.

Featured Artist

I plan to feature a new Etsy shop here on a regular basis. I really believe in supporting the community that I am a part of.

Today's feature is SaintKitten.

SaintKitten's photographs are created using a lomography camera called the Holga.

The Holga is a medium format camera that creates pictures that display blurs, light streaks and other distortions.

SaintKitten's shop is filled with dreamy eye candy ready for consumption!

More fun times with the Time Machine

I listed a new pair of earrings last night. I think they are quite fantastic and made a pair for myself in a different color scheme.

I love the hammered silver circle charms against the sparkle and shine of the Swarovski crystal.

I managed to get another screen shot of the listing in the Time Machine. I don't quite know how I keep randomly finding my listings in the sea of items for sale on Etsy, but I do.

I never cease to entertain myself...

If you fancy these cute pair of earrings, you can visit them here.

Treasury West for my CCCOE friends

I am a very proud member of the California Crafters Club of Etsy (CCCOE). In addition to all of the support from the community at Etsy, CCCOE has been extraordinarily supportive. I am meeting wonderful people who have helped to promote my shop, and in turn I want to help promote them as well.

So, with that said...

I snagged another Treasury West spot and have featured all CCCOE members and very specifically featured phydeaux. Her warm and fuzzy Hearts Afire Scarf was the inspiration for my collection.

Please visit my new Treasury West here.

Beating it like a dead horse

The fabulous Tresury that I was featured in, and that was curated by phydeaux made it to the FRONT PAGE!! Yes, it was really late last night and I didn't get to see it in real time - but I do have the screen shot.

I just continue to be blown away by the amazing community and support found on Etsy. I also have been so warmly embraced by the California Crafters Club of Etsy, which I am a proud member.

More shameless self promotion

This is getting a little ridiculous...

I was pretty timid and unsure about having much to say about my Etsy shop. I felt like I was fumbling around for words.

Well, all of that is completely out the window! I apparently can write about myself for days.

I found yet another super cool feature that Etsy has to offer - Time Machine

It is a lot of fun to click and drag and see lots of pretty new listings.

I stumbled cross myself in the Time Machine and if course, managed to grab a screen shot.

Enjoy!

Treasury West Part 2

Well, Well

Today has really got my heart racing! I got to curate my first Treasury West spot and then...as I was checking out the rest of the Treasuries, I stumbled upon...MYSELF!

I nearly screamed out loud and almost went into full out hysterics. (I know, it doesn't take too much to get me going.)

So here I am, my shining moment, in all it's glory

I am in the first box on the top left. :)

I would like to give a special thanks to phydeaux for including me in her Treasury. You made my day.

If you want to check it out, before it expires give it a click!

What the qassia?!?!!?

Okay, so I jumped on the bandwagon and got a qassia account. Basically, you earn money (but it isn't REAL money) to help market and promote your personal websites.

It appears to a beneficial marketing tool for those of us on Etsy. It is still in the beta testing phase, so you can't sign up without a referral. So, if you would like to take the plunge...

Tell me what you want little birdie

I got myself a coveted Treasury spot!!! Well, it's a Treasury West, but I will take what I can get.

I am really excited about it, as it is my first. I am also really proud to feature some beautiful pieces of art.

You can view it here.

Happy weekend everyone.

Pictures Part 2

In my efforts to enhance the quality of my pictures, here are a few new pieces that I think are much improved.

I am particularly pleased with 2 new necklace additions. My favorite is the amethyst "cluster bomb".

Just the few changes that I made in the picture taking process, really produced much better pictures (in my opinion). There is always room for further improvement, but for now, I am happy with moving in the right direction.

It's the weekend!

Hello everyone,

I hope the weekend is treating you well. It is still really cold and overcast and I haven't been able to shoot more pictures of my jewelry. I am anxious to list more pieces in my etsy shop.

But I have learned the hard way that the pictures in your listings are sooooo important. They are all that speak for any item that you may sell in your shop.

I have learned the following things that are absolutely imperative to taking quality pictures (of jewelry especially).

1. Shoot only in a good source of natural light. Don't even think about using the flash. It overexposes the picture and completely distorts the color.

2. Always use a macro setting. The closer you can get to the jewelry, the more detailed and in focus the picture will be.

3. Shoot a lot of different angles and "detail" as well as "entire piece" pictures. You want to have a lot to choose from when deciding the pictures that best depict your jewelry.

Ask yourself: Does the color in the picture accurately represent the jewelry in real life?

There is a lot more that can be added to this list, and as my pictures improve - I will contribute more to the list.

In the meantime, I invite you to join me in taking the "handmade pledge". I love this new concept that I have learned from etsy and want to incorporate it into my life as much as possible.

I also want to continue to support my new etsy family and make purchases from them before I even have time to think about stepping foot into a Target.

Have a fantastic weekend and happy hand making!
